video mosaic effect?
Posted by Dangerouslyunderexposed on February 15, 2007 at 5:09 pmHi
I would like to know if there is a plug-in (or technique) within after effects that would allow me to use a collection of random low-res video clips to tile together in order to accurately describe a high-res video clip.
thanks,

February 15, 2007 at 7:09 pmDo you mean like those sequences where thousands of still images create a pointilistic mosaic that eventually resolves into an image? Rather 20th Century but there are several old plugins that will do that if you have a database of images large enough to satisfy the pointilism filter effect. Shoot, I cannot think of a single product, though. I cannot even recall the generic name we eventually applied to this family of effects.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

February 16, 2007 at 4:53 pmExport the video you wish to make into a video mosaic as individual pics (tiff, jpeg) Then use a mosaci program to manually convert each fram into a mosaic. I have done it just for fun and it takes time. I could not find a program that woul dbatch a folder of pics to turn them into mosaic. I use Andrea Mosaic. Then as you make each mosaic pic number it 001,002,003 etc. Import the sequence back into AE and render.
