Video mixdown?

I don’t know AVID, but, if I’ve understood in principle what you wish to do there are 2 ways in Vegas Pro – not sure about Sony Vegas Studio 12 if you have method 2 available?:

1/- Render out ProjectA and import to ProjectB

2/- “Nesting” – This allows for ongoing editing to ProjectA from ProjectB while you need to do so.

This Nesting is great as the ProjectA”Nest” maybe be treating as just another piece of Media in ProjectB.

If you have several tracks, you can also render those tracks by going to “tools” and “render new track”

I don’t see nesting in studio but the render new track does work. Is there anyway to get that media into the project media tab? I tried dragging up there but that didn’t work. The point for me was to simplify the project so I guess I can now delete those original 9 video tracks and go from there. I am working on a laptop so screen space is at a premium.

Or I render out then import into a new project.

Studio does not support nesting – it is a feature of the pro version. For me, it was one of the reasons that I moved from Studio to Pro, having come to VMS from Pinnacle 11.

Nesting is superb – as is the ability to edit the project directly from the timeline in another instance of VP. Saves huge amount of rendering and then embedding the rendered file into your timeline.

You treat any vegas project as just another piece of media, dragging it directly onto your timeline,move it around, and then when you render your project, all nested projects are rendered too.
