video media generater wont open in new window!
Hey, i just recently got Sony Vegas pro 10…ive had vegas pro 9 prior to this and have had to do this but i cant remember how it was done, Originally when i inserted a thing from the media generators, a seperate window came up which i could use to edit the text etc… Now when i insert it, it comes up as a new tab within the program right beside video preview and all the other ones, how would i make it show up in a new window
I have tried the obvious and set it to default layout but still opens in a tab, and checked and unchecked media generators in the veiw tab, could smeone please help me out
also, just got a jvc gz hm 320, which records in avchd, is there any way to make editing and playback less choppy without buying a new proccesor or video card, i have the latest drivers for my graphics card, but it didnt help much, heres my computer stats

Just click on the little holes on the side of the window

You computer doe snot meet Sony’s minimum specs for editing HD which is a 2.8Ghz DualCore.
You could use a script like VASST GearShift to convert the files to DV Widescreen proxies. This will make editing a lot easier. Then when you are ready to render to HD, you can use GearShift to swap the proxies for the original HD media or render from the DV Widescreen proxies to DVD.

ok, got that working, but theres no timeline in the window like there used to be, why is this and how do i fix that

It’s part of the “new and improved” feature set in Pro 10.
You need to click the “Animate” button on the lower left corner.
BTW, this applies to all FX too. -

Here’s the worst part of this “new and improved” feature.
Drop any event you want on the timeline, apply an FX to it, click Animate, create a keyframe 1/2 way down the FX timeline and then try to use your left or right keyboard arrow to move your cursor one frame left or right.
You can’t do it!!!
It’s like “Quantize to Frames” is permanently on.
The only way to re-position your cursor is to physically move it or enter the specific frame numbers in the window.
This works as expected in all previous versions of Vegas but not in Pro 10 🙁
Before anyone ask, yes, it has been reported to Sony as a bug.
Whether or not it is a bug or a result of the new plug-in architecture remains to be seen. -
i knew something was up with that, moving it with arrow keys is the only way i can not make it skip in the preveiw, bunch of monkeys workin at sony? haha
