I renderd out a movie in Final Cut with a .h264 codec and slapped it on a DVD but when I watch it on a TV it looks as if you can see the interlaced lines, but they are fatter than normal. Do i need to deinterlace the final output for TV?

YOU need to not export it as a web codec, then burn it to DVD. What you need to do is export it via Compressor and choose a DVD format to compress it to, or export as a self contained QT file (or reference file…just uncheck self contained), then take it into Compressor and use on of the DVD presets.

You are adding an unnecessary step that is compressing your footage more than it should be.
