Video is slow and needs constant rendering
I received a DVD from a banquet that my client gave to me. They wanted me to take the footage off the DVD and cut it with some other video that they received from the banquet also. Mac the Ripper ripped the DVD files, and then I converted the .VOB into MP4 files using VIsual Hub.
However, the problem is when I take the files into Final Cut Pro. When I drag the cursor through the canvas window to view the footage, the footage will drag behind and delays for a second or two when I play it. That’s not the most annoying problem though. When I drag the footage into the timeline it needs to be rendered which takes A LOT longer than any rendering times I’ve ever had, and even when I make the slightest edit (dissolve, filter, moving the clip a frame or two) the whole clip needs to render again. The render times are also taking forever, and making the slightest edit keep me waiting 5-6 minutes minutes for it to render.
I started doing most the editing offline, which has made it a bit easier since I know where my time code numbers are. I was wondering if there were any suggestions, or if something in my workflow might be causing the problem.
