Hi – I use a Sony HDR-HC9 (not the best but I think it’s a decent camera) to shoot my videos in 1080i format.

I import them into Premier using the HDV 1080i setting for the Sequence.

One of the things I notice about my videos is that they seem to have a lot of noise, even when I have plenty of light. I also notice that, compared to other videos I see even done on the same camera, my videos are not as crisp as I think they should be and not as “clean”.

I hope what I’m saying makes sense.

Is there something (other than buying new equipment) that I can do to improve my video qualities?

    Thanks

    Roberto

Connect your camera to a hd tv and see how the footage looks.
If it looks the same then you know its the camera and not the software.

Are you shooting using a monitor or the onboard viewfinder?

The viewfinder on most cameras is near useless to judge image quality. Noise will rarely show up and everything looks crisp because of the smaller size when it could very easily be out of focus.

I’m using the viewfinder. I’ll try and see about connecting a monitor.

    Thanks
