Video interlace problem again. How?

I know this problem has been brought up quite a number of times in this forum, but I still couldn’t find a solution to mine.
I recorded my video using DV cam tapes and captured into my PC using PPro. I’ve created my Sequence with the preset of “DV PAL / Standard 48kHz / Fields: Lower Field First”. FYI, I tried No Fields (Progressive Scan) as well. In my video, I recorded some screen shots of animation on iPad (like games with words and graphics in it) and a close up interview style of a person. I also need to import .png files exported from PowerPoint Slides.
Here is my problem, I tried exporting my video in different format (.mp4, .mpg, .avi, .mov etc.) and changed the field order to None(Progressive). The close up interview of the person looks fine without any interlace, but my .png image and iPad screenshot looks terrible. I see lines on the words and I can hardly read what are written in the video.
I then tried to import my PPro proj file into AE and export as .AVI Progressive. The quality of the whole video is way better, including the .png image and my iPad video screen shots. BUT, the interlace problem appears even though i selected Progressive.
I’ve tried exporting different settings but I just couldn’t get the quality i want. This video is to be played on a PC and projects out on Projector.

Hi Kathy,
Did you shoot the iPad screen with the PAL DV camcorder? You’re not going to retain the crisp graphics of a computer screen or tablet screen in PAL or NTSC no matter what, the resolution is not there. Ipad is probably 720p resolution (1280×720) while PAL is 576×480.
If you are not going to be making a DVD, but only doing computer playback, then it might be beneficial to work at a higher resolution in editing. I don’t know if there is a “screen capture” app for iPad perhaps, that will record the screen output to a file at native resolution? On computers, I’ve used Camtasia which does a perfect job and retains full clarity. Another option is a capture card from Black Magic or Matrox for instance that might be able to take an HDMI output from the tablet and record at 720p, and then edit at 720p and export to a high-res format for your computer playback.
You just can’t replicate computer graphics in NTSC or PAL very well, sorry.

If you shot interlaced, edit interlaced.
Then when you export; DEinterlace for the deliverables.

Thanks Jeff. But there is no screen recording app for iPad. We will need to jailbreak in order to do so. I saw people posting iPad video on YouTube and the quality is so good. I wonder how they did that. Thanks anyway.
