I want to have 6 or so video frames floating in 3d space and then animate a camera in and out to the next as a transition between subjects.
the only thing i don’t understand in doing it is how i reposition the camera to get the full video frame when the camera movement goes into each new video.

anyone able to shed some light

At the point you want your camera to face the layer head on and the layer to fill the frame you’ll need to make sure that:

    1) The camera’s point of interest is equal to the position of the layer you want to fill the frame.

    2) The camera’s X and Y positions are equal to the layer’s X and Y position.

    3) The camera’s Z position is equal to the layer’s Z position minus the value of the camera’s ‘Zoom’ property.

Note: this assumes that the anchor point is at the center of the full frame of video.

Explore null objects and parenting the camera to the null. You place the null where you want the camera to look and where you want the camera to be in space.
Also, get yourself a copy of Angie Taylor’s AE7 book.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
