This is really perplexing me! I have a project file that was last modified in mid-June. It was exported as an FCP movie a few days later. The movie plays perfectly in sync. This was all done on a PowerMac G5 and PowerMac G4. Now a month later I open the project file in a brand new PowerBook with 1.67Ghz processor and 2 gig RAM. Everything is in sync but about halfway into the project (a 3 minute music video) it starts to go off sync, very slightly but noticeable! I don’t know how this could happen, considering that the project file was last modified in mid-June and exported several days AFTERWARDS in perfect syc. It’s not like I worked on the project at a later date and saved it without knowing i accidentally moved some clips out of sync. So this is quite a conundrum for me. If anybody can help, please do! The project by the way ) is and always has been on an external firewire drive.

Might try playing back the file on another computer… If it’s OK there, then figure there’s someting wrong with the PB… I’d think if the same file played back fine a month ago, it doesn’t just go out of sync by itself…

Yeah I know what you mean. I will try connecting my drive and opening the project on someone else’s computer then. Another strange thing that has happened is that alot of the clips in the project had become slightly interlaced. Since I try to refrain from always de-interlacing, I checked out the field dominance in the Sequence settings and found it set to “none.” This is where I originally set it months ago and everything looked fine. Now it’s not fine so I tried changing the field dominance and re-rendering to see if that would fix the problem and it did! Both upper and lower settings produce the same results of crisp looking image. But what i don’t understand is why it shoudl get interlaced at the “none” field dominace setting when originally it looked fine at that setting. Again I never resaved the project from the time when everything looked fine.
    Any thougts?
