I am using Encore 2 on a PC with lots of disk space and memory. I build my program, add menu’s, etc. and it looks fine. Previews great. Next time I open the project in Encore however, and play the timeline in the monitor, the video is displayed as a black screen with a smidge of my video on the bottom – like it is being cut off. In the “Preview” I have deleted cache files, etc. Now using the Preview options shows a blank screen! This has happened twice – each time I have rebuilt the entire project and it is costing me tons of time. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I’m about ready to go to another product – I really like Encore, but I can’t keep rebuilding projects like this….

It sounds to me that your video display drivers somehow don’t like MPEG-2 encoded video.

Have you tried going to Edit > Preferences > Audio/Video Out and unchecking Automatic in the Video Playback section? After that, quit, relaunch Encore, open your project again and see if you can see your video.

That was it – thank you so much! My video is back!
