Hello! I’m editing some AVCHD footage using Premiere Pro CS5, but I’m having some trouble here… I imported the video to the computer from an SD card, using Windows Explorer. The problem is: the film is very long, so the camcorder splitted it into several smaller files, and when I try to unite them in Premiere Pro, I always lose frames between one file and another!! When I watched the footage on the TV directly from the SD card, everything went fine, but when I put it into the computer it’s all split up and I can’t find a way to make it flow correctly. How can I watch it all as if it were a single file? I don’t know if I made myself clear, but I really need some help here. If anyone knows how to solve this, please reply this post. Thank you!

In your timeline, do the joined pieces butt up directly next to each other? If they don’t then ripple delete. If the gap is less than the width of the frame, check the framerate of your files and your sequence to make sure they match.
If everything looks fine and there are no gaps, your camera is probably dropping frames between files. Try a 2 or 4 frame wide cross fade between pieces to hide the dropped frame.

Do you still have the files in the original folder structure as they were on the SD card?

I don’t know exactly what you meant about the pieces butting up in the timeline, but I tried to do what you said about the cross fade and it worked just fine! Thank you very much!!!

Yes, I still have all those folders in the SD card, with the original files too.

When moving data from card to computer, copy over the ENTIRE FOLDER STRUCTURE. Do not try to only copy the video files. Once that entire folder is moved to your local hard drive, then use Media Browser in Premiere to import the files, rather than “Import”
