Wonder if anyone can help me. My client wants to be able to play his video files on the television via a USB stick, what is the best codec for this or does it depend on what type of telly they have?

You need to know what type of TV they have and what the TV is capable of playing back. Without that information you’re just guessing.

Any recent TV though should be able to playback a h.264 mp4 file (data rate/frame rate and audio rate is dependent on TV model/brand). Find out what they’re using then Google that TV’s specs to find out what it’s capable of playing back.

Cheers, I just don’t know if to export as 1080p or 720p now ! So going to try both and see if there is any difference. Without knowing the TV specs he will have to do research (with my help)
