    Just came across elgato’s H.264 Encoder/Acclerator:

    While I don’t work in HD, my thought is that this hardware/application might allow me to export more quickly and continue to edit other projects while doing so. (I work exclusively for podcast and web consumption.)

    Is my logic flawed? Does anybody have experience with this or a similar device?

    Great idea in theory. Unfortunately, I have daily production requirements. Often, I have to get a video shot, edited and out the door all in one morning.

    Matrox also have an H264 accelerator.

    The Matrox solution is considerably more expensive.
