  • Video Effect not appearing in movie output

Hello. I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 TRIAL. I have copied a piece of video to another track and have added two video effects – Cookie Cutter, then Pixelate (i’m trying to blur someone’s face).

When I play the video, the preview shows my effects perfectly, but when I Make Movie, the Pixelation is lost. I think I can see the cookie cutter edges though…

Can someone explain why this might be happening?

I’ve just noticed that if I render to “Video for Windows AVI”, then the my effects are included. So my problem appears when rendering to “Main Concept MPEG-2” (HDV 1080-50i) – I’m editing footage from my HDV and want to keep full quality.

Jeff, this is really strange. I wish I had an answer for you but the fact that it works with AVI and not MPEG2 is even stranger. As a workaround, I would render to AVI and then render the AVI as MPEG2.

Thanks for your reply John. Won’t I lose the HD resolution if I render to AVI then to MPEG2?

I solved the issue! The pixelation was being output, but because the resolution of the HD MPEG2 output was so great, the “large” preset wasn’t particularly noticible, especially when being played in the preview window.

I’ve tried it with a higher, custom setting, and I can now see it working.

    Sorry for being stoopid.

Maybe the Movie Studio version doesn’t have HD templates for AVI. I was thinking of Vegas Pro (sorry).
