Video Editing Awards
Hi,
I put this post also in Indie Filmmaking but now that I think about it, as I made the project using FCP it’s probably best to ask in the FCP forum.
Anyway, I have recently completed a 48 minute doco and I was wondering if anyone knows of any good awards / film festivals I can submit it into which has awards for video editing specifically?

Independent filmmaking is odd in how it handles editors. The Independent Spirit awards gives a best cinematographer but no best editor.
Sundance gives a documentary editing award, but no narrative editing award.
I think recognizing the editor competes with the “director as auteur” publicity machine.
But in my experience, most low budget independent films really need a strong editor, because they ride on the edge of cloying and trite. Usually the films have quite poor coverage.
