video DVD plays shorter length of film than expected
My video DVD is playing a shorter length of a video than expected.
The video in question is 43 minutes long, but only 30 minutes will play on my DVD player on my TV in my living room.
The file directory that appears on my DVD player O.S. “VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_1.vob” is the first part of the 43 minute long TV series episode, which is logical given the “_1”. It plays for 16 minutes before the DVD player O.S. flashes a message on screen that says something like “Signal Detected” and at the “Signal Detected” message is when it switches to the next file. This file shows up as 0.97 Gb on Windows Explorer.
The file directory that appears on my DVD player O.S. “VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_2.vob” is the second part of the 43 minute long TV series episode, which is logical given the “_2”. It plays for 14 minutes before the screen goes black and then returns to menu. This file shows up as 955 Mb on Windows Explorer.
The file directory that appears on my DVD player O.S. “VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.vob” when I select it with my remote control it plays the same content as “VTS_01_1.vob”. This file shows up as 232 Kb on Windows Explorer.
I’m not sure what the purpose of the “VIDEO_TS.vob” file does when the other .vob files contain the actual video content.
I’m not sure why Vegas split up the render project into 2 .vob files containing video content instead of one video file like as if I was watching the video on my laptop there is only one video file for watching the video on my laptop instead of this weird “VTS_01_1” stuff.
The DVD video burn render settings that I used to render in Vegas was:
file container: MPEG-2
video: 720×480 60i 2500kbps
audio: AAC encoder stereo 192kbpsI selected 60i to make the video work on my analog TV since it uses interlaced scanning to make it display all of the information on the screen instead of down converting 30p to 30i which is only half as many scan lines at a time. According to Vegas, my approximate file size was 3.3 Gb what ever DVD video burn render settings I selected.
Any suggestions?
