  • Video Device not recognized in order to capture

Having difficulty capturing footage. All functionality (capture now, batch capture, etc.) for the log and capture screen gives me this error:
“Attempt to capture video without a video device selected. Please select a video device in your capture presets and try again.”
I’ve changed DVCams, I’ve changed 400 firewire ports and wires…all to no avail.

The log and capture screen allows me to manipulate (ff, play, rw, stop) the Device but nothing displays in the video area (just the bars and “preview disabled”).

I’ve trashed the FCP preferences. I’ve repaired my permissions on my HD.

Info: Final Cut Pro HD; Mac OS 10.3.9; Capture to external drive [Maxtor drive which is formated as Mac OS extended] ; capture device is Sony DSR-1500A and Sony DSR-45; last security update was “Security Update 2005-007”; iTunes v.4.9; QT v. 6.5.2.

I will note that we accidentally updated to QT 7.0.2, which doesn’t funtion well with FCP HD; we downgraded to QT 6.5.2 yesterday.

Even using the feature “Non-Controllable device” doesn’t solve the problem … still not recognized.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Oh P.S., no, this computer doesn’t have any Norton or Virex products.
