Video desyncing when imported
Hi
I’m editing a youtube video using Sony Vegas HD Platinum. When I try to import my footage it hugely desyncs the audio, and the audio begins to cut out periodically. The footage plays perfectly fine in quicktime, so I’m at a bit of a loss as to why importing it does this. I would just resync it, but that doesn’t solve the cutting out.
Any help is much appreciated

The codec used to deliver YouTube video is not a codec that you want to edit with. Use a tool like AviDemux to convert the video to a codec which edits easier. Try Motion-JPEG video with PCM audio. Here are the settings:

Hi, I’m not entirely sure if you’ve understood my question. I’m not editing a video I’ve downloaded, I’m editing it to upload it. My camera shoots in mp4 (or mov, I think it changed when I put it on the computer). I don’t get the problem with my webcam’s footage, which I think shoots in AVI

You’re correct I misunderstood your question but the answer is still the same. Your camera obviously is recording in a format that is not good for editing. What camera is it?
Since it’s a MOV file, you might want to use MPEG Slipstream to convert it to an AVI file using the Motion-JPEG codec with PCM audio. The bottom line is, whatever your camera is shooting, Vegas can’t use it as is so you need to convert it into something you can edit with.

I’ve tried to change codecs, few problems. One, there’s no PCM I can find with slipstream and two When I convert I get no video :S
