  • Video delay on firewire with XP SP2

How does one get rid of the video delay that XP servics pack 2 introduceson the firewire output relative to the computer monitor. I’ve alway monitored sound on computer hardware while watching the video on a prof. video monitor that is fed via an ADVC 100 converter (or my camera) from the firewire output. Prior to XP service pack 2 the PC video and the external video monitor’s video have always been perfectly in sync.
I find I’m unable to edit with this delay because it looks like a loss of lip-sync. Have had to remove XP SP2 from 2 machines.
Any fix? Has Adobe said anything about this?
    Regards
    Wes D.

I am experiencing the same problem, from what I have read on an other forum this could be specific to Canon camcorders. My camcorder is a Canon XM1, which one is yours.

Don’t think it can be a camera issue, I’m using the same set-up as pre XP SP2 (a Sony camera or most of the time a Canopus ADVC100 external converter box)
This issue only comes up with SP2 installed – as soon as I de-install it everything is back to the way it should be with no delay via the firewire. Adobe must be aware of it, wonder if they’re going to come up with a fix.

Definitely not a Canon issue. I have used my personal ZR 60 and 80 and everything through the XL1s with no firewire issues.

Im having the same problems, it’s not deck or camera realted, it’s all because of SP2.
