    Hi,

I have finally gotten a big job, 25 bands performing live, with one song each on a compilation DVD. Man I have gotten no sleep for the past two weeks. Anyway I have most of the individual songs rendered to a MPEG-2 File, should I render these as one continuous file and if so what file type will take up the least amount of space on the disc I may have around 90 minutes that has to fit on one DVD will this work?

If I am using DVD architect with a menu what is the maximum amout of time allowed for the continuous file. I may be in trouble if this won’t fit.

    Thanks,

    Adam

There is no choice of file types for DVD. Has to be Mpeg2,

If you re-render as one file in Vegas, you will be re-compressing the files and that will be a noticable quality loss. There is software that can join them up without recompression such as Mpeg Video Wizard.

Your best best at this point is to use the separate files and link them to each other or to a menu through end actions. Either that, or go back to the original .veg files, join up the segments in the original format, and create the complete Mpeg.

As for what will fit, add up the file sizes. A single layer DVD will hold 4.3 GB.

When You say end actions do you mean markers at the begining and end of the files? I have tried to add multiple files in the little timeline in DVD architect and had a hard time, I guess I am doing somethin wrong. Once the first file goes into the timeline the rest of it becomes hidden and no more files can be added. This seemes to be the best thing to do since all the footage is spread out among 6 different project files and joining them to make one continuous file would be a nightmare. Thanks for all your help so far.

Add the files in the project overview, then set the end actions (links) in the media properties.

What version of DVDA are you working with?

The very first DVD players that were sold, would not play recordable DVD’s – or +. I always ask them to try a different DVD player before they return it. The price of a new DVD player that will play -R’s in my area is under $50.
