  • Video Co-Pilot OPTICAL FLARES DO NOT APPEAR

Posted by Cal Mcguffie on August 19, 2012 at 11:56 pm

I just installed Video Co-pilot’s optical flares plug in. I create a solid as instructed, then go to effects to add my optical flare. However once I have selected the effect, it does not appear over the solid. I am able to adjust all the properties but I can’t see the actual lens flare within the composition. I know several other people have had problems with this but know one seems to know the answer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Cal

Can you post a screen shot of your user interface with the effect applied to the solid but not appearing in the comp viewer?

If you click Options, do you see the flare in the Optical Flares custom UI?

If you uncheck “Use GPU,” does it make a difference?

Yes when I click options I am able to edit all the flares, select presets, etc. Checking and unchecking Use GPU unfortunately makes no difference.

Hello Walter, I have been experiencing this same issue. I have optical flares installed in After Effects CS6, and I can add the effect to the layers and edit the properties. However, the flare itself is not visible at all in the screen. I have tried enabling and disabling the use GPU property, and nothing happens. I also deleted it and installed it again… same behavior.

The strangest fact is that the first time I tried adding optical flares effect, it worked. After closing the project and opening it again the following day, the flare was no longer visible.

Any ideas on what can be happening and how to solve it? Thanks a lot for the help and urgency!
