  • Video clips out of synch after FCP6 transfer to FCPX via SendtoX?

Posted by Catherine Ceigersmidt on February 11, 2019 at 9:19 pm

This is a question for veteran FCP users — I’m trying to transfer an 80 minute video project from Final Cut Pro 6.6 to FCPX. I have an older model Mac Pro laptop running FCP6 in Snow Leopard, and an iMac 3.3 GHz Intel Core i5 running FCPX in OS X El Capitan. I exported the XML file of the FCP6 video sequence, saved it to an external drive that also holds all of the media from that project, then used SendtoX to transfer the XML file to FCPX on the other Mac. It opened the project in X, but there are multiple video clips that are totally out of synch with the separate audio track on the timeline. Why might this be happening? I previously transferred the entire project and did not have any synch issues, but it was between two computers running FCP6.

    Many thanks,

i wonder if it might be a drop frame/non-drop frame time code issue.

Also, be sure the audio rate is not somehow switching between 44.1 & 48.
