OK, so I am updating with a new system and need to know how Vegas Pro 10 utilizes the video card. I will run a two monitor system, and edit in 1080i 1440×1080. Will I see ANY preview performance increase in getting a high end video card? I am not as concerned with the increased performance in CUDA rendering, as I do not render to AVCHD that often, but preview. Also, does SVP10 also still use only one core for preview or multiple now. Again I am asking for PREVIEW not rendering in regards to video cards.
    Thanks again!

Unfortunately that is the ONLY time that Vegas will make use of your graphics card GPU so I it doesn’t matter what card you get for preview performance (although, I would still get a good card for plug-ins that are GPU accelerated like Boris BCC7, and Magic Bullet)

Here is my feedback, after having bought a fresh new PC with i7/950 and a nVidia GTX 460, and upgraded to Vegas Pro 10.

    – The GPU is only used for AVC rendering, and I find it quite disappointing. As far as I remember from my tests 1 month ago, the maximum load I could take of the GPU was 10% (while with Premiere Pro, rendering was twice as efficient, with a significantly higher load of the GPU).

    – during preview, I can see the 8 cores (or pseudo-cores) running simultaneaously, but in a very irregular way. The overall workload is about 30-40%, with strange peaks during about 10 secondes each, about every 20 seconds (very very roughly). This could be observed on a project with one video track, doing basic transitions between clips, and with one basic FX on clips. No way to get 25fps all time, which means that if the CPU is not used at 100%, the reason is not that the target speed of preview is reached.

I had posted my benchmarks on this forum about 2 months ago, you might have a look for more accurate numbers.
