right now our pc after effects workstation are dual dual core or dual quadcore hp xw8400s

the video cards are either Avid approved Nvidia QuadroFX 1500s or 3500s

wondering what would be the best bang for the buck in upgrading our video cards for realtime feedback while working with complex compositions in after effects, not necessarily rendering

we would like to have better performance while clicking, dragging, moving items and preview rendering

we do work a lot in 3d space

any suggestions , they don’t have to be Avid friendly

    yeah…i hate open gl

anyway dual quadcore 3.0ghz xeons and 8GB of ram…and for whatever reason the thing feels sluggish

we “upgraded” our machines to nvidia 3500s/3700s and they seem less responsive than before

yep, it’s not likely that ae would gain much advantage from the extra opengl advantages of the quadro series (or ati’s firegl series). ae’s opengl usage is closer to that of 3d gaming, which don’t get much of a boost from the pro level cards either. those cards are geared more to 3d modeling tools and such…
