I’m going through the classroom in a book series from Adobe, and I’m on lesson 5, Animating Layers.

When I imported the photoshop layers, I was unable to scrub through my timeline. My system would practically freeze and I would get an OpenGL error saying it failed to load Shader (5044::0)

I changed the preferences from OpenGL to Standard 3d and it seems to have made a slight bit of difference, but I’m still getting crashes.

Does anyone have any insight into After Effects and video card issues?

I have a GenForce GT 6600 (downloading the latest drivers as we speak) on windows XP64, and 4 gigs of ram.

Thanks. I’m guessing it’s some simple video card setting.

you can see how well opengl is supported by you card by going to the preview preference and clicking opengl info… that will give you a list of supported features. generally if all the features are not supported, i would disable opengl in favor of adaptive resolution, just uncheck the enable opengl box in the preview pref window.
