Will FCP2 and MacPro capture video via firewire via a dv camcorder with firewire just as it comes or must there be a 3rd party capture card of some kind installed in the Macpro?

Just as it is. FCP has been able to capture DV via FireWire directly since version 1.

    All the best,

How about HDV out of the firewire like the Sony HDV-Z1U. Can it also be captured with no additional hardware?
