This may be a dumb question, but……Is there going to be a difference in the quality of captured (SD) video if I use the Windows capture utility or if use the Vegas capture? In other words, is a capture a capture, or does the software used for the capture make a difference?

    Thanks

Thanks Steve—It seemed that my SD video capture wasn’t as sharp as normal. I’ve been looking at HD for so long that I think it’s playing tricks on my mind when I’m working with SD.

    Thanks

It aint playing any tricks Dave, lol….
HD format is best to work with, even for SD output.
Better quality, details, color and all that stuff.

Dave, HDV has 3 times the quality of DV to begin with. Even if you record in HDV, you should edit in HDV. The quality is noticeably better when being output to DVD (which is SD). If you need to output to blu-ray, you just simply re-render the project using the appropriate DVDA template from Vegas.
