Video Capture error
Hello, I am new here and hope someone can help me.. I’ve searched the entire forum front and back, with multiple searches, but still have not found a complete answer to my issue. I’ve did find suggestions, but not a concrete answer or solution.
I am sure it is one you’ve read before, but I receive the following error when trying to capture video.
The device ‘Dazzle DT100 Device’ could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user.

Pinnacle Dazzle Video Creator Plus HD
Sony Vegas 7 / Vidcap 6I used to use the Dazzle device along with Sony 5 on XP and worked fine, but since I have moved onto Vista, I am receiving this error.
Subsequently, the Dazzle device came with Pinnacle Studio HD software, installed that and video is captured just fine! However, I’ve spent too much time learning Vegas that I do not want to really learn Pinnacle, its just so clumsy to me.. besides, I’d rather stick to what I know anyway.
Any help will be appreciated..

If your Dazzle is like mine (DT-150 or something like that) it doesn’t present itself as a capture device. For that reason, it does not work with other capture applications or editors like Vegas. It only works with Pinnacle Studio. That said, you only have to deal with Studio to capture to a file. You can then use Vegas to edit. Studio may be an awful editor (I hated it… more bugs than a trash dump) but it actually isn’t bad at all for capturing. I have never had a glitch with it during capture and it is pretty straightforward to operate.
