  • Video Capture Error – Can’t Capture Any Video

I went to capture a bunch of video I have on DV tapes from an event and when I started, I get a error message saying “VidCap60.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

This happens just when the video appears in the window and a weird sound occurs from the audio that sounds nothing like what’s on the tape.

This has never happened before and I don’t remember changing a thing. I have used 2 different cameras and they both get the same problem. I have no clue how this started and what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

These are the worst problems to debug. Something on your PC is conflicting with the Vegas capture utility. This could be any other video software that you have installed. Try capturing with another application. It might not hurt to re-install Vegas in case anything about Vidcap got corrupt.

I do have Sorenson Squeeze to capture video on but that has the same problem. I just did a restart and I was able to capture a tape. Once I did another one, VidCap came up with the same error message.

I did install DivX for Windows on my computer 2 weeks ago (and I was at this event all week long last week) so maybe that could be corrupting it? I’ll uninstall DivX, restart the computer, and see what it does.

You are on the right path trying to figure out what has changed that may have caused this to stop working. Keep going.

    DivX was the problem.
Didn’t need to restart the comp.
I uninstalled DivX and capturing videos works like it used to!
    Thanks for the support!
