Video Cam / Film Cam
Posted by Lars Wikstrom on June 16, 2006 at 4:25 amSo this whole time I have been shooting in the different modes from 1080i, 720p, 480i 30p. But in the Scene File there is the Video cam and Film cam. What are the differances? I can still shot in 30P / 24p in the video mode.
Thanks.

June 16, 2006 at 3:08 pmIt does change the capabilities of the camera, the varialbe frame rate is only avaiable under Film Cam Mode and the shutters are displayed as degrees instead of fractions.

June 16, 2006 at 5:07 pmI believe you are correct. the film mode permits over and under cranking.

June 16, 2006 at 5:44 pmFILM CAM mode = variable frame rates in 720p mode, and syncro-scan shutter works in degrees (that track with the frame rate) rather than a fixed fractional speed.
VIDEO CAM mode = access to pre-record, loop record, interval recording, and one-shot record modes; syncro-scan = fixed fractional speeds.
