Sarah and I have been away for about 3 months filming in Montana and Wyoming. Glad to be back here in St. Augustine and on the forum again.

Seems I’ve forgotten simple things in Vegas that were second nature before I left.
How do I create text in which the video will show through the lettering?
    Thanks
    Roger

Each text event you create will have an opacity setting that you can drag up or down — the line will be at the top of the event on the timeline.

Or, you could set the text color to a semi-transparent one.

    I’m not getting it and I know it’s simple…
I’m wanting to create a text with for instance a black background where video shows through the lettering.

Track 1: Sony Text Event, white; Compositing mode Multiply
Track 2: your media; Compositing mode Source Alpha

If there’s a bunch of other tracks in the project, then you’ll need more additions:
    Track 1: Parent
Track 2: Sony Text, Multiply; child of Track 1
Track 3: your media, Source Alpha; child of Track 1
    Track 4+: other stuff

That will make only Track 3 “multiplied” into your Sony Text event.

    That’s beautiful Graham.
Was it accomplished like the post above described?

Thanks Roger. If that’s what you were wanting, here’s the Timeline Layout the way I did it. NB: The Composition setting drop-down Menu for that Text Track is set to “Multiple Mask“.
