I think I have done something wrong. Previously when I dragged a video clip in the timeline it’s associated audio file would move with it, but now that doesn’t happen. Does anyone know which button I might have pressed? Thanks. I’m using my G4 PowerBook 17″ Widescreen 1.5GHZ with FCP4.5.

I have very bad news for you: you really need to read your FCP manual. Not knowing which version of FCP you’re using, I can’t tell you which page or which volume of the manual to look at, but basically, you need to find out how to set you target tracks.

Please try to understand, I’m not trying to be mean or cocky, but you’re really asking a “how do I turn it on” type of question.

Read the manual. Do the tutorials.

Thank you…I will be more selective with my questioning next time.

The answer to his question has nothing to do with setting target tracks. He said “drag a clip IN the timeline.” Not INTO the timeline.

What he should be looking up is linked selection. Hardly even reqires reading the manual. Actually, not much requires reading a manual. Just look through all the menu items. One happens to be “linked selection.” Very aptly named. It’s in the edit menu. An appropriate place for it. Hasn’t changed since FCP version 1.x. Press shift+L to turn it on and off.

When it’s off, press option and click to select as if it is on. When it’s on, press option and click to select as if it’s off.

Thank you Bret, I really appreciate you taking the time to read the question and I also appreciate your answer. Have a great day, malcolmland.
