    Is there a way to get many objects to vibrate without having them jump to the 0,0,0 origin.

    I have about 40 spheroid shapes spread out inside a cylinder… they are lined up to the arc of the cylinder.

    The cylinder turns, I want each one of these spheroids to bounce and rotate in place.

    Adding a Vibrate tag and enabling position… they all jump to an identical position at the origin of their parent object.

    If I pull them out of a parent, they all jump to 0,0,0

    I need them to all bounce and rotate in the position I have set.

    Is there a way to accomplish this

    Place each object with a VibTag under a separate Null. Then place those Nulls where you want them.
    The VibTag referes to the coordinates of any parent. If no parent, it uses the world coordinates.
    Thats why it jumps to origo.

    That’s kind of what I thought…

    Unfortunately I have about a thousand of these objects!!

    Thanks though..

    I wish Maxon would create a Vibrate Tag that doesn’t have this anoyying little quirk

    How about just vibrate the object wear it sits!!!!

    It would be nice if vibrate worked from the selected object’s location. If you had MoGraph you could set this up in under 20 seconds. :p

    I actually have MoGraph… Just loaded it…

    Although I don’t know how to use it just yet… so probably a little longer than 20 secs

    Any tips would be appreciated

    I just got MoGraph myself and decided to try to solve your problem. (At least what I think it is) It didn’t take 20 secs more like 3 minutes. Yes this is a great piece of software. It has literally paid for itself with my first job. I’m new to this module but anyway here’s what I did:

    Goal: create a larger number of vibrating objects in a cylinder shape

    I created my object to vibrate first – a small sphere
    Then I created the cylinder object in the size I wanted
    Add a “Cloner Object” and make the sphere child of it
    In the “Cloner Object” settings – Change the mode to “Object”
    Drag your cylinder shape in the slot for the Object
    This will give you a grid of spheres in the shape of your cylinder
    In the Cloner is where you would change the size of these clones – but no need to go crazy until you setup the motion

    With the Cloner selected in the object list – choose a random effector – this is to vary our objects – adjust to taste
    Finally select the Cloner again and add another Random Effector – change the random mode setting to Noise or Turbulence – voila vibrations – adjust the Animation speed setting to taste

    In the end you’ll have 2 Random Effectors modifying your clones – one effector to ranomize the grid and the other as a random animator. No keyframes

    Exactly, except I’m not sure that Tak wanted to randomize the grid so you could have knocked off a few seconds. 🙂

    Thanks for all the ideas… I was able to figure out something similar to what you suggested… I used the OBJECT and SELECTION function which spread out my clones in a spedific area along the inside of the cyclinder.

    However, I had to increase the number of clones enormously just to get a few to show up.

    i.e. I had 1600 clones, but only about 100 actually showed up. To get the number I needed grouped tightly together was too much for my poor G5 to handle (unless I did something wrong… which is likely)

    Anyway, the experimenting continues… And the deadline looms
