    Ladies and Gentleman.
I’m having to captureing VHS into my Avid (havent had to use vhs footage in quite a while) the problem is i im getting some “color noise” in the picture when i play the VHS .?.? DVD’s, BETA deck, and CAM look fine only when i hook up my vcr’s do i get these slight “color bar things”. It ooks fine when i hook my VCR directly to the TV so its not the tape or the tracking. My video input tool is set to composite as it should, decks disabled. I even hooked up a “combo deck” and the dvd”1/2″ looks fine, but the VHS “1/2” is fugly through the same RCA’s. I’m cant even think the last time i captured VHS’s into a project, is there somthing I have never known. Thanks Spencer

You need to connect a TBC/Frame Sync between the VHS deck and the Avid to get goo results.
If you dont want to spend money on one (though you could probably get a cheap one on Ebay), just dub the stuff to DV or DVCAM.
Then you will have timecode, should you need to recapture at some point.

My cheap, easy way to have TBC controls over analog material is to run all analog sources through my Sony UVW-1800 Beta SP deck. I have the TBC remote for it. Upon capture, I control the hue, video, setup and chroma levels of the analog sources.

If I need timecode from these sources, I have to dub them to a deck with timecode capability.

    Regards,
