VHS to DVD
I am converting all purchased VHS movies to DVD. What is the best quality I can expect? Is it worth the extra money to use DVD DL discs? I am capturing the video with ADS Tech Video Express and burning directly to the DVD.

I do not see how DVD DL is going to be better than a single layer DVD. You can expect VHS quality or a little less.

Copyright issues aside, the best way I have dealt with VHS is to capture through a Time Base Corrector to basic DV. You go the usual DVD route from there. But you have to make sure you have the rights to the footage, number 1.

Better yet, go buy the DVD’s. Don’t expect great quality from the VHS to DVD conversion if you can even make it happen w/o a tbc.
Rent them from Netflix or iTunes if you don’t want to buy them.
