I’m attempting to convert VHS footage to Mini-DV for editing in FCP HD. The problem I’m running into is actually getting the VHS to DV conversion. I’ve attempted going from a stand alone VCR and also from my TV/VCR Combo deck. I’m only getting a blank blue monitor ont the camcorder while the footage from the VCR plays. What the hell am I doing here. For Pete’s sake someone help me pleaaassseee!!! Advise, comments, critiques, verbal discipline, anything that will make sense in getting this issue address.

    Thanks.

Is your camera in VTR mode? Are you sure you have the VCR set up right? Cables going from the out?

What type of DV camera are you using?

Some cameras do not have the ability to record from anolog. There should be a step by step in your owners manual for the camera. If you are trying to pass the signal through the camera directly to FCP, your camera may not allow this. Agian, check your owners manual.
