Hey everyone. Is it possible to get a composite or S video signal into Final Cut Pro via one of the Black magic cable/cards? Do they give you a direct in on any of their products or do you have to continue to get the footage in via firewire through a converter box. I am hoping that they have a way that the composite or s video input is just another attachment off their cable OR that there is a hook up to the video card.

Any advice or knowledge about this would be extremely appreciated.

    Thanks

    Lee

    Lee,

I just acquired a Decklink Extreme card, which I thought had everything, and I was surprised to find that it does not have y/c (s-video) in/out. I’ll have to route my VHS machine through my BetaSP machine in order to capture or laydown to VHS.

There is no DeckLink board/device that has s-video input. Only models with composite input/outputs. Also, make sure your composite signal is stable enough, the decklink is picky about its composite input. Professional stations use time base correctors and frame synchronizers to bring in consumer material.
