December 5, 2019 at 12:33 pmHi all,
I’m currently assisting on a project and I’m having diffcultly getting a VFX into Avid.
I’m running avid 2018.12.6 and I’m stuck on a Prosres 4444 25FPS 1080p VFX file that originated from After Effects.
I’ve never come across this before but every time I ama link the vfx file it come across as compressed and pixelated in Avid. The original file is fine and clear and I’ve always ama linked the files and transcoded and it has been fine. This certain file I’m having trouble with and if anyone could help that would be amazing!
Thanks ☺

December 5, 2019 at 3:50 pmIf its an AMA link maybe its set to a low res preview mode.
Sorry I am a few hours away from an Avid station to check that option.
I am sure its not getting compressed if you are just linking it.
Have you seen the VFX plates in another desktop viewer for confirmation?Trevor Jones
December 5, 2019 at 4:38 pmHey Eric,
Thanks for the reply and no worries I appreciate the support.
Compared to a another desktop viewer such as VLC and MPEG Stream and it is clear as day but even when I link it comes across compressed. I know, strange but true.
I’m currnetly in a 1080p 25FPS project but when in a higher resolution I can ama in fine and transcoded fine but when I copy across the clip across projects for 4K to the 1080p project it just becomes compressed again. If that makes sense.
When you come to transcoding into the 1080p, it loses quality and becomes pixelated. I’ve transcoding using project rate and keep source’s frame rate at DNxHR SQ MXF but still no such luck.
If you have any ideas it would majorly appreciated.
