    Hello!

I figured this was such an easy question, that I posted it on creativecalf, but I have not received any answers there, so I’ll try here. I think and hope this is an easy one: In previous versions of Premiere, if a clip was highlighted in the timeline and you hit the “Home” key, the time indicator would jump to the beginning of the highlighted clip. Now, with Premiere Pro 2.0, hitting the “Home” key brings you to the beginning of the timeline. I like this change, but what do you now do to go to the beginning of a highlghted clip in the timeline? I know I can use “Page up/Page down” to jump between editpoints, but what if I just want to jump to the beginning or end of a highlighted clip?

    Kind regards,
    Eric

Just remind me how the beginning or end of a highlighted clip differs from previous or next edit points …?

Well, if you have several layers of audio and video clips in the timeline, and one clip (for instance a music track) is much longer than the other clips, the “next/previous edit point” command forces you to jump to each edit point on every clip, instead of being able to jump to the beginning of the longer clip with just one command. So with the “next/previous edit point” command you have to hit the “Page up/Page down” key several times to get to where you want, instead of just one command.

    Kind regards,
    Eric

Thanks, Eric – obvious as soon as you mention it. My dumb.

I’m still using 1.5 here, and haven’t experimented even with the 2 trial yet. It wouldn’t have seemed to much to hope for that the home key + some modifier (alt? ctrl? shift?) might go to beginning of clip; it seems a surprise that Adobe haven’t offered that.

Hope you find a good solution!

    All best,

    Mike

Actually, this plays into another question that I’ve had….I come from the Avid world, as well as the Accom Affinity, and in both of these apps, one of my best friends was the “T” key, which immediately
marked in and out points on the clip you had highlighted. I’ve looked through the “Keyboard Customization”
options and don’t see this command anywhere. And to address the original poster, this option would allow you to push “t” and “q” (go to in point) and immediately be at the head of the selected clip.

Does Premiere have this command? Thanks for any help.
