[Warren Eig] “Does this bode well for FCS 3? 64 bit coming down the pipe as well?”

    Hope so. I Hope so.

[Warren Eig] “Does this bode well for FCS 3?”

I’m a bit more skeptical than you and Jeremy. The only thing that really bodes well for us is an announcement from those tight-lipped people from Apple, who would do well to get some buzz going if they really are doing anything at all to bring FCP into the modern 64-bit computing world.

In fact, I’ll just spout it out for all, including Apple to see:

Hey Apple, this secretive BS is getting really annoying!!!

    There, now I feel better.

I have to agree David. I’m not sure at this stage in the game what Apple has to fear from an open beta program to thrash out the bugs from a re-build of FCS. Oh – apart from it happening over Steve Jobs dead body.

My spidey-sense says a re-write MUST be on the cards. For all the “Apple only cares about iPods/iPhones/iSlates” talk, FCS shifts a lot of expensive hardware – and Apple’s a hardware company with growing computer sales. Just because the overall percentage of pro/consumers has shifted, doesn’t mean the pro sector has not grown in real terms. My hope is that Apple realise the importance of their next move in this space, and get it right.

    Hi
Logic 9.1 is also fully Intel only, whereas Logic 9.0.x, like FCP 7.0.x is Universal for the most part.
