    Hey,

feel a bit embarrassed to ask since this seems so basic. But here’s the thing-

-imported some progressive AVI (DVSD codeced) footage into an FCP sequence (DV, Lower field, 29:97, 720×480). Looks great on progressive monitors. But need to output to DV tape. Previewing on an interlaced monitor, it still looks like it has interlace issues. I guess since it didn’t originate as DV Lower field, I’m not sure if I should change a setting in my record deck, a setting in the FCP sequence, or apply an interlace filter. Using the workflow I described, what would any of you FCP guys recommend?

    Thanks!

Try reversing the fields of the troublesome shots by applying the Shift Fields filter found in the Video folder in Effects.

FCP is QuickTime based and avi files are NOT QuickTime based.

You need to convert the files to a proper FCP editing codec before bringing them into FCP.
