VERTICLE PLASMA
Posted by Dave Tavernier on November 23, 2005 at 3:36 pmWhen working with a 864×486 comp that will eventually be nested in a 720×486 comp and then flipped to a verticle plasma tv position, how do you work with the image in AE before it gets flipped? I hope that is a clear question.

November 23, 2005 at 4:45 pmDoes it matter which end of the plasma monitor is bottom and which end is the top? Do monitors differ from one another? I will be using 42″ Panasonic Plasma Screen Display model #TH-42PWD6UY.

November 23, 2005 at 5:49 pmPLus, for a horizontal Plasma Screen, is the principle the same? Work in 864×486 format, nest in a 720×486, render no fields? As long as the monitor can anormorphically convert the 4:3 feed? Does this make sense?

A few years ago, BBC World TV inherited BBC NEWS 24’s plasma screens for their new set. Unfortunately, News 24 had them monitor vertically, and suffered from screen burn, which could have been hidden except for the fact that World used them horizontally, the result was a vertical watermark still very visible at home.
Nice to know even the big boys get it wrong 🙂
