I’m trying to publish my motion project for use in FCPX. It’s an intro/title sequence with content that changes with each video.

My trouble is with some text. The text changes with each video. I’d like the text to be centered vertically and horizontally. However, I never understood how the vertical alignment works. I can’t seem to figure out how to get text to automatically center vertically: Anchor points, groups, black magic spells, or some combination of each.

How do I make sure that regardless of the amount of text, it will be vertically centered?

As an example, I created a sample project and saved it on dropbox in case my explanation isn’t clear.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,
    James

If you mean centered horizontally AND vertically relative to the content, then simply change the layout method from “Type” to “Paragraph”. The same as if you drag out a text field with the text tool instead of simply clicking with it.

    Thank you.

    I missed that subtle difference.
