Recently my 2005 PowerMac G5 crashed! I purchased the newest Mac Pro..and had to reinstall all of my software, including FCP. I am using Final Cut Pro 2.0 and had been editing on this same software before. Luckily all of my editing was saved to an external hard drive.
After installing, I tried to open my latest project. FCP launched and read about 46% of my project before giving me this message : ” File is too new for this version”
What should I do?? I need this project to open and am out of options!

Did you do all of the OS updates and all of the FCS updates until you received a message that said “all software is up to date”?
Also, close FCP and open Apple Disk Utility and Fix Permissions on your system drive.

Angela,
Any version of Final Cut Pro before v.5.1.4 is Power PC only and will not run on an Intel Mac, which is what your new Mac Pro is. Time to upgrade to Final Cut Studio 2.

? I read that as FCP2, admittedly an ancient version and probably a typo.
Having said tht, FCP is QuickTime dependent, your new Mac will have a later version of QT that may not be compatible with a previous sourced clip.Cheers
