Sorry. I’m a Mac head and am so used to posting here I made a brain dead post. Figured it out anyway.

FYI: after updating to new IE needed to delete shortcut icons.

Seems like there is a bug in which the old shortcut will disable add ons even though they are enabled in the control panel. Not a fan of windows.

If this could be moved to windows forum it might help someone since it turns out a lot of folk face it.

I had some weirdness occur after the upgrade to IE8 on XP Pro SP 3. The IT dept won’t confirm it or fix it, but since the “up”grade to IE 8 I am no longer able to authenticate on the university’s trouble ticket tracking system (which is a PoS anyways) unless I have authenticated the same username at the machine level. Prior to the IE 8 upgrade, it worked fine. My 2 cents.
