Velocity render pass
Posted by Nicholas Toth on April 14, 2006 at 2:57 pmHey guys…
I had a conversation with a friend of mine a few months back about rendering out a velocity channel. I just looked at e-on and the new vue is offering it. I’m a native C4d guy and I don’t have that option in multipass output (I don’t think I do atleast in v9), but either way I was wondering if anyone knows how to use the VELOCITY multipass layers — in AE.

April 14, 2006 at 4:41 pmFor c4d you would need to get the free Ralf plugin from Core Particle Tools… it allows you to export a velocity pass from C4d to AE… You can use the channel to drive Reelsmart motion blur.. It works pretty well..Core particle tools went out of business so you might have a hard time finding it…

You wouldn’t happen to know where I could put my hands on CPT, Ralf, and Response would you? I have Jenna which I live by, but would love the rest.
let me know.

April 14, 2006 at 9:57 pmActually I had the name wrong…the motion blur plug is called “Vixol” I was able to download it for free from the Core Arsenal site before it went down… It’s the Windows Installer… Here’s the file…

April 16, 2006 at 4:22 pmI’m running OSX and finding anything by CORE ARSENAL seems to be almost impossible. Their website used to be semi functional, but now its just a splash page. The Force motion blur in AE isn’t so bad, but its just SUCH A RENDER HOG — I try to run atleast 64/128/256 passes so it doesn’t look choppy.

April 21, 2006 at 3:01 pmI’m sure you guys noticed that the announced C4D 9.6 will now render a motion vector pass.
