Is there any feature on Vegas that will let me speed up a video more than 4x, preferably with an envelope?

If not, do you know of a PC application that has a non-linear video velocity envelope that reach 100x or more? In Final Cut and Premiere, you can speed up a video more than 100x… how has Vegas been missing this for so long?

Right click the event, go to Insert/Remove envelope, choose velocity. This can accelerate up to 300%. Hold CTRL and stretch the video to its maximum. This will give you x3x4 speed, so 12x speed.

Of course you can then render this out and bring it into another project, and speed it up a further 12x. That’ll make it 144x or 24x or something, can’t think straight

Actually there is no need to render. Just use a nested project. Make the event that you’ve sped up it’s own project and drop it into another project and speed it up again. Repeat until you have reached your desired speed.

Thanks for the additional tip, John. I wouldn’t have thought about that possibility.

Yep, nesting is a good idea. I settled on working in Premiere Pro, and the speed features are great. Thanks for the responses.

John, can you give me a short lesson on nesting…?
