    HELP !!!

All of a sudden I am unable to open Sony Vegas Pro 8.

It seems to be hung up on the opening screen at “Initializing Audio Engine”

    What I’ve tried:

    ~ uninstalling and reinstalling Vegas
    ~ uninstalling DVD Copy
~ uninstalled all Corel products, which was the last software I loaded after using Vegas last

    Please HELP

Corel installs DX plugs and codecs. Uninstall Corel, then reinstall Vegas. Or, do a system restore to prior to Corel install. However, it’s entirely likely that the registry crap Corel installs will still mess with you and will require some manual deletion

Yes indeed..this is a constant occurence plaguing a lot of vegas users
First off DVD Copy and corel probably has little to do with this kind of prob vegas has, i use the corel suite for my major image based work and NO part of it
interferes with vegas….here is a similar post with a solution :

Its best not to have your “Editing”(bay or computer)connected to the internet.
As DSE said do a system restore to when it was runnung properly.
Do you have this computer online and with windows automatic update
    enabled ?

Still no luck….just reinstalled VEGAS again.

And, I don’t have a restore point prior to yesterday when I uninstalled Corel products.

Yes, just tried starting without computer being connected…still receiving “Sony Vegas Pro has stopped working”

I have two messages into Sony’s tech support…no response yet…I sent the first one yesterday.

I have the same problem and don’t even have corel. my sony veags 8.0 has only started not working and showing the initializing audio engine message since i got appear to be “dodgy” plug-ins from a tutorial off youtube.
I’ve already re-installed vegas and in a different location, nothing seems to work – help!!!

I would get rid of the “dodgy” plug-ins. (i.e., uninstall them)
