Vegas is a fine editing program with some advantages over Avid – an editor must weigh those differences and then make a choice.

down load V6 and give it a test drive … avid may be a little faster on some rendering as many avid’s use hardware accelerators … you have already stated you don’t like it .. as far as quality Vegas will stand right along side avid and pass it on some media rendering ..it’s been awhile since i’ve been on avid so i don’t know the fine details on what media you can drop/mix into avid’s TL … most avid editors have a very difficult time changing NLE’s .. the ones that do give Vegas a try out find it very easy to use ..before V6 their biggest complaint was media management but that has changed with V6 .. so we’ll have to wait a bit to give them a change to try it out …

There is no way Avid renders better than Vegas. They are about equal, but some effects look better in Vegas because of better code.

Any flavor of Avid Express is ho-hum, and far less robust than Vegas.

Now, the expensive Avid systems like Nitris DS etc., those are truly wonderful. $90K+ or so…
