I have a client who has edited pieces of a two hour project in Sony Vegas. But their system can’t handle putting it all together. So they want to deliver the pieces to me to do the final edit. But I use Final Cut Pro.

What can they export out of Vegas that I can work with in FCP? Obviously, we want as little loss of quality as possible.

In addition, they do not have the top version of Vegas so they don’t have the option to render as MXF.

    Thanks,

    Clint

Both of you could download and install the Avid DNxHD Quicktime codec (it’s free) and then they could render a Quicktime file using Avid DNxHD. This is probably the easiest way to exchange files between Vegas Movie Studio and FCP.

Sorry to but in guys, but I have the same issue but need to transfer a hd project from vegas to premiere pro for some final tweaks. Does the Avid DNxHD Quicktime codec apply the same for premiere ??

Video for the Web is kool.

You could use Avid DNxHD Quicktime but if Premiere Pro is running on a PC, why not render to your native HD format? e.g., if your footage is HDV just render back to HDV and use it in Premiere?

My client had trouble with the Avid DNxHD Quicktime codec so they upgraded to Vegas Pro and rendered it as a MXF file.

I downloaded the Sony Log & Transfer Plugin found here: https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/micro-xdcamexsite/resource.downloads.bbsccms-assets-micro-xdcamex-downloads-LogTransferUtilityAppleFCP.shtml

But I still can’t get the MXF files into FCP. Any troubleshooting suggestions?

    Thanks!
